Cutting it fine!

It's going to be a close one!

I will be travelling to Essex on Wednesday evening ready for an early start on Thursday.
We have decided to fit the engine at Steve Spencer's workshop. It saves an extra journey for a start, gives Steve more time to get the motor prepared, as well as other items such as the wiring loom, cooling system and so on and it's not too far from Brands Hatch, which means, hopefully, I can get to brands in daylight and get set up at the circuit in good time. That's the plan anyway. We couldn't cut it any finer!
All last season, we ended up getting to the circuit very late at night, which I have never liked doing. I don't suppose it will be any different this year but at least there's a chance this time round!
So a nice early start on Friday for the practice day.

I am crossing everything in the hope of good weather for the weekend.
Please,no rain!

Sunday 24 February 2008

Mostly, I've been painting things.

Not a huge amount happening at the moment. Mostly, I've been painting things. That's about it really. Trying to track down a radiator from a YFZ 750, which is bigger and therefore will cool things a bit better. The water from the system was a bit brown in colour, indicating overheating, which is obviously not good. I have sourced a temperature gauge to keep an eye on things. With more power from the motor, this is more important this season.

Still waiting for the call to go and collect the engine. I am hoping next weekend will be time. That gives me about 4 days to get the motor in and everything else in place after that.So it will be one hell of a busy week for me.
Also waiting on a set of yokes so I can fit the new Rsv front end.If that doesn't happen then I will run the YZF front end for now.

The only other jobs to do this coming week are to fit the new slave clutch cylinder, which I hope will arrive later next week, and to get the brakes bled with new fluid. That's about it I think, asides from getting the van ready to go and all the other crap we have to drag along to a race weekend.

Unfortunately, Phil's build isn't going too well. He needs his engine before he can do anything serious, which means there is no way there will be enough time to get it ready for the first round so Snetterton will most likely be the first outing for his FZ. We should be picking up both motors at the same time.
I don't think Phil is too keen on pulling the Laverda out from the back of the garage for round 1. But who knows, it may happen!
